Recently, we were commissioned by UAE based racer Sam Taheri, to livery up his new Toyota TRD86 cup car that he is campaigning in the 2014-2015 Yas Marina Circuit TRD86 Cup and the Dubai Autodrome NGK Racing Series.
Sam’s brief was quite simple, create a clean dynamic design that has links back to his homeland of Iran.
So, after a number of creative rounds the final design was completed…
A classic two tone design with slanted blocks of red, white and green to symbolise the Iranian flag, together with a silver applied to the roof and rear half of the car to offset the base car colour of pearl white – before the livery went into production, a dark grey coloured traditional calligraphic Arabic poem was also added to the roof of the car.
We originally specified that the majority silver colour was to have a glossy or chrome effect finish, but after testing this was found to be way too bright – so together with Sam and his production team in Dubai, we settled on using solid matt vinyl colour blocks to give a subtle contrast to the gloss pearl white bodywork.
Since taking his newly liveried cup car out on track, Sam has enjoyed podium finishes in each round, and even the odd class win… obversely our go faster dynamic design is working!
Sam has liked his new livery so much, that he’s even asked if we could sketch up the design onto his road legal race prepared MINI Cooper, so look out for it on the streets of Dubai soon.
